Chelsea defender reportedly tells club he wants a new challenge amidst interest from Barca
Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is in his last six months of his current contract at Chelsea and has been linked with a departure from the club.
In a recent statement, Christensen has reportedly told the Blues management that he wants a new challenge, meaning he is ready to leave the club.
According to reports from DiMarzio, as relayed by Nathan Gissing, the defender has communicated to the Blues that he wants a new challenge next season.
With Christensen’s future yet to be decided by the west London club, several clubs are said to be interested in signing him.
Spanish club Barcelona and German club Bayer Munich are the two clubs interested in the Denmark international.
However, there are reasons to believe the large financial demands could throw off the Catalans from the race as they are targeting signing Erling Haaland in a deal that could be worth €100 million in the summer.
If the deal for Haaland should happen, Barcelona will have limited funds left to sign any other player.
Christensen remains a critical player at Chelsea, having had five clean sheets in 11 starts.
