Chelsea could end the contract of this player in January

There are reports that Chelsea are planning to cut short their loan contract for Saul Niguez in the coming January transfer window by sending him back to Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea signed Saul in the recent summer transfer window on loan; however, so far, the midfielder has failed to perform to expectations.

This comes as the 26-year-old struggled to make his mark at Stamford Bridge following his poor debut during a 45 minutes chance against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Despite his poor starts, some reports claimed that the Blues have no plans to end his loan contract as they want to bring the best out of him after the international break.

However, another report via Marca claimed that Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has doesn’t see Saul in his long-term plans and plans to send him back to his parent club in January.

The report added that Atletico Madrid are in no position to accept Saul’s early return, though, as the midfielder’s temporary exit helped them to fund Antoine Griezmann’s re-signing.

Since joining the Blues, Saul has made just five appearances in all competitions, and his deal with the Spanish club is not due to lapse until 2026.
