Chelsea consider Porto’s goalkeeper

Chelsea are keen on signing a new goalkeeper this summer and have been linked with moves for a number of goalies this summer.

This latest is Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, who they want to sign for their new manager, Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

They would, however, face competition from Man Utd, who are also interested in him.

It is no longer news that Chelsea have been in the market for a new number-one goalkeeper due to concerns over both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the former set to complete a transfer to Saudi Arabia club.

Pochettino is said to be happy to keep Kepa while investing transfer funds into other areas of the squad instead.

However, Portuguese newspaper A Bola reported that the West London side have a concrete interest in Costa and are looking into ways of securing a deal for him.

Porto on the other hand are ready to let  Costa leave to any club ready to meet his £64.5m release clause in full, which could make him the second-most expensive goalkeeper in history, behind Kepa.

Chelsea are willing to meet Porto’s demand but want to pay the fee in instalments.
