Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino in a post-match statement hailed Senegal star Nicolas Jackson after their recent win vs Brighton in the Carabao League.

Jackson scored the lone goal for the Blues after he received a pass from Cole Palmer in the 50th minute.

The Senegal star scored a second goal but it was unfortunate to see the goal ruled offside.

Jackson’s goal is his second for the Blues since he joined them from Villarreal in the summer window.

‘I’m very pleased for him,’ Pochettino said in a statement via the Blues’ website.

‘When a striker scores it’s always important. He needed to feel the net. It was an important game for him.’

The Blues head coach also provided an update on the fitness of Ben Chilwell, who was forced off in second half stoppage time.

‘We need to assess him,’ Pochettino said. ‘But I think it’s a hamstring,’ the manager added.
