The race for the top four for this season has widely claimed to be between Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Liverpool and Man Utd.

However, Rafa Benitez in a recent statement has speculated his former Club, Liverpool to still finish in the top four teams in the Premier League despite their sluggish start to the season.

Liverpool have been less impressive this season and are currently ninth on the log with eight points behind fourth-placed
Newcastle United.

The Reds have also suffered shocking defeats this season, with their recent 2-1 loss to Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday, ending their long unbeaten record at Anfield.

Despite this, Benitez still sees Liverpool finishing in the top four.

“I am not as pessimistic about their prospects as everyone else. This is not a normal season,” he told The Times.

“They have had injuries, the World Cup is a distraction, but they remain a very strong team.

“I am sure they will recover and get into the top four in the Premier League, and we know from their performances in recent seasons how they can go far in European competitions.”
