Arteta hails Arsenal new signing from Porto

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is excited with the new addition to his squad ahead of next season when they will be playing in the Europa League aside from other English domestic leagues.

This comes as Arteta reacted after the Gunners confirmed Fabio Vieira as their first major signing of the summer.

Vieira, who joined the North London side from FC Porto was confirmed as an Arsenal player on Tuesday following the completion of a £34 million deal with the Portuguese side.

The deal includes an initial fee of €35m (£30m) in addition to €5m (£4.3m) worth of add-ons.

So far this summer window, Vieira is Arsenal’s third new signing as they already signed two players; goalkeeper Matt Turner and teenage winger Marquinhos.

“I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent. Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play” said Mikel Arteta.

“We welcome Fabio and his family to our club and are looking forward to starting work with him ahead of the new season.”

The North London side are still in the race to complete a few more signings in the ongoing transfer market before the start of the 2022/23 season in August.
