Arsenal’s Raya slammed after 1-0 win vs Man City

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has described Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as a “nervous wreck” during the Gunners 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Recall that Raya displaced Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal’s number-one goalkeeper after he arrived on loan from Brentford in the summer.

Reactions have since trailed Mikel Arteta’s decision, especially after Raya gave the ball away during Lens’ equaliser in Arsenal’s Champions League loss midweek.

Neville shared his take after the Spanish stopper showed some shaky moments during the City game.

After Raya’s clearance deflected off Alvarez, Neville said on Sky Sports: “I can spot a keeper a mile off that’s a nervous wreck, and there’s one right in front of you.

“The mistake in midweek—he’s carried into this game. He’s not sharp enough and he’s very lucky. It’s quite obvious the goalkeeper is struggling but he’s still playing it short. They’re going to get punished if they’re not careful.”
