Arsenal to sign two players from La Liga in January

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen on strengthening his squad ahead of the January transfer window.

With the Gunners playing in other leagues outside the Premier League this season, there is a need for them to sign new players if they are serious about winning a title.

A report via Fichajes revealed the two players Arsenal are hoping to sign are La Liga midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Guido Rodriguez.

Both Zubimendi and Rodriquez conform to the skill set Arsenal aim to incorporate into its midfield, earning them Arteta’s endorsement.

Arsenal are likely to see the departures of some of their players in January most notably Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

The reports revealed preliminary discussions with Zubimendi’s current club, Real Sociedad, have already begun, which indicates an honest desire to sign the midfielder.

However, a substantial stumbling block is Real Sociedad’s asking price for the player, which Arsenal may not be willing to meet.

Real Sociedad want €60 million for Zubimendi. Should the Gunners not sign the midfielder, they could turn their focus on Rodriguez, who plays for Real Betis.
