Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly on the verge of joining Arsenal after the club reached a breakthrough in talks with Sporting CP.

According to fresh reports, the Gunners have agreed a deal in principle to sign the Swedish striker, with negotiations now in the final stages.

Arsenal have made signing a top-class centre-forward their main priority this summer, following the successful arrivals of Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga. For some time, pundits, former players, and fans have called for the club to recruit a proven goalscorer who can elevate Mikel Arteta’s side in their push for major trophies.

Gyokeres, who has been in outstanding form for Sporting CP, has emerged as a leading target for Arsenal. He has also attracted interest from other top clubs, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but Arsenal now appear to be in pole position.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal have reached a “total agreement” with Gyokeres, with the deal now moving forward. Romano explained on social media that after a fresh round of talks, Arsenal are edging closer to securing the striker’s signature. Gyokeres, meanwhile, has reportedly decided not to return to pre-season training at Sporting as he focuses on completing his move.

While the transfer is not yet fully completed, discussions are advancing positively, with both clubs working towards a final agreement.

Arsenal supporters will be watching closely as the club looks to finalise a deal that could significantly strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
