Arsenal, Chelsea go head to head over signing of £85.5m striker

The summer transfer window be a busy one for Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea as they are in the race to sign a number of players.

Arsenal are reportedly set to make an offer for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, who is currently rated one of the most prolific strikers in the world- ahead of Manchester City attacker Erling Haaland’s goal tally (37 games, 30 goals and 6 assists) this season.

A report via TBR football revealed Arsenal will face competition from their London rivals Chelsea amid speculation that Gyokeres will likely leave Lisbon if manager Ruben Amorim exit the club to become Liverpool’s next manager.

The Swedish star release clause is set at £85.5 million, but his impressive record with 36 goals and 15 assists in just 42 appearances has gotten the interest of clubs looking to boost their attacking ranks ahead of next season.

Despite the high release clause, both Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be preparing an offer for Gyokeres.

The two clubs are determined to bolster their attacking options by signing a new striker in the summer.
