Arsenal and Man Utd Dealt Fresh Blow as Lille Raise Price for Midfield Star

Arsenal and Manchester United could face a significant obstacle in their pursuit of highly rated Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi after the French club indicated they would demand a much higher transfer fee following recent Premier League spending.

The 17-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders, attracting interest from several top clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. Arsenal are understood to have already held preliminary talks over a potential deal as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield options for the new campaign.

Bouaddi only signed a contract extension with Lille in December, committing his future to the Ligue 1 side until the summer of 2029. At the time, reports suggested the club valued the Morocco youth international at around £70 million.

However, the transfer market has shifted dramatically in recent weeks. Tottenham’s reported £100 million agreement to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United and Manchester City’s big-money capture of Elliot Anderson have prompted Lille to reassess Bouaddi’s valuation.

Club president Olivier Létang has hinted that the French side would now expect offers in a similar price range if they are to consider selling one of their brightest prospects. That stance could significantly complicate the plans of both Arsenal and Manchester United, who have been monitoring the teenager’s progress.

Despite the inflated asking price, Bouaddi remains one of the most sought-after young midfielders in European football thanks to his technical ability, composure on the ball and maturity beyond his years.

Whether Arsenal or Manchester United are prepared to meet Lille’s revised valuation remains to be seen, but any move for the talented youngster now appears set to require a substantial financial commitment.
