Arsenal and Chelsea Face Fresh Competition in Race for Highly Rated Midfield Talent

Arsenal and Chelsea may have to overcome a major obstacle in their pursuit of highly rated Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with reports suggesting that Real Madrid have now entered the race for the teenage sensation.
Bouaddi has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young midfielders in European football. Since breaking into Lille’s first team in 2023, the 18-year-old has accumulated significant top-flight experience, making more than 60 appearances in Ligue 1 while showcasing maturity well beyond his years.
The Morocco international has further enhanced his growing reputation with a series of impressive performances on the international stage. His composed display in Morocco’s recent World Cup clash against Brazil drew widespread praise, underlining why several of Europe’s biggest clubs are closely monitoring his development.
Arsenal are believed to be among the clubs most interested in securing his signature. Reports have suggested that the Gunners have already held discussions with Lille as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the new season.
Chelsea have also been credited with strong interest in Bouaddi, continuing their strategy of targeting elite young talents from across Europe. The London club reportedly views the midfielder as a player capable of becoming a key figure for years to come.
However, the situation has become significantly more complicated with Real Madrid now reportedly assessing a move of their own. The Spanish giants have a long history of identifying and developing some of the world’s best young players, making their involvement a concern for Arsenal and Chelsea.
Lille are understood to value Bouaddi between €60 million and €70 million (£52m-£60.6m), a fee that reflects both his current ability and enormous potential. With several European heavyweights now competing for his signature, the battle to secure one of football’s brightest young prospects looks set to intensify in the weeks ahead.
