Arsenal Ahead of Chelsea in Race for Lille Wonderkid
Arsenal have reportedly moved into pole position in the battle to sign highly-rated Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring the teenage sensation.
The 18-year-old Morocco international is widely regarded as one of the brightest young midfielders in European football. His reputation continued to grow following an impressive performance against Brazil in Morocco’s opening match of the World Cup, where he displayed remarkable composure and maturity despite his limited experience at the highest level.
Bouaddi’s rapid rise has attracted interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs, but Arsenal are believed to be leading the chase. The North London side are expected to strengthen their midfield options this summer as part of a broader squad rebuild aimed at helping Mikel Arteta’s team compete on multiple fronts next season.
While Arsenal’s primary focus remains the signing of a top-class left winger, reports suggest that adding another midfielder is also high on the club’s agenda. Bouaddi is said to be among several midfielders being closely monitored by the Gunners, with discussions reportedly progressing behind the scenes.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is actively pushing to secure key targets this summer, further fueling speculation that the club could accelerate efforts to land Bouaddi.
Valued at around £80 million, the Lille star has already earned the label of a “generational talent.” Should Arsenal succeed in completing the deal, they would secure one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects ahead of some formidable competition.
