Why this Serbian striker joined Juventus ahead of Arsenal
Serbia international Dusan Vlahovic, who joined Juventus in the recently concluded January transfer window, has revealed why he snubbed Arsenal for the Italian Serie A club.
According to Vlahovic, it was an ‘easy’ decision to snub the Gunners for a move to ‘glorious’ Juventus during the January transfer window.
Vlahovic was a key target for Arsenal during the winter transfer window, but he opted to join Max Allegri’s Old Lady for £58 million.
The 22-year-old, who signed a four-year deal with Juventus, scored 20 times for former club Fiorentina this season.
“There were many rumours about foreign clubs, but the choice was easy because the club and I have a similar DNA,” he said at his unveiling on Tuesday.
“Fight and suffer when needed. I think it’s part of my mentality as well, so the choice was not difficult. I fit in here.
“I spoke to Federico Chiesa before making my decision.”
Arsenal had hoped to sign Vlahovic as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who, after being stripped of the captaincy and being banished from the Gunners first team, completed a transfer to Barcelona on the transfer deadline day on Monday.
