Why Saka allowed Odegaard take penalty Vs West Ham
Arsenal returned with an impressive performance during their weekend game against West Ham in the Premier League.
One of the highlights from the match was the moment the Gunners winger, Bukayo Saka, allowed captain Martin Odegaard take the penalty during their 5-2 win at West Ham on Saturday.
The North London club were already leading by two goals thanks to efforts from Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard when Saka was fouled inside the area.
However, the 23-year-old opted to allow Odegaard to score his first goal of the season.
Saka would later take the second penalty that was awarded before the break to score Arsenal’s fifth goal against the Hammers.
During a post-match statement, Saka when asked about his actions towards Odegaard on the pitch, responded that the Gunners captain wanted to take the penalty and he was more than happy to give him the ball.
“He always gives me the ball, so we have a good connection,”Saka.
Odegaard has been impressive for the Gunners since his return from injury.
Arsenal’s recent win against West Ham have pushed them to the second spot on the Premier League table going ahead of Man City and behind Liverpool.
