Theo Walcott names Arsenal star who plays like Messi

Former Arsenal star, Theo Walcott has named a player at the club, who playing pattern is similar to that Lionel Messi.

Walcott in a recent statement compared the Gunners teenager, Max Dowman, to the Argentina international.

According to the former forward, Dowman is quicker when he has the ball at his feet, a similar trait to that of Messi.

Recall that Dowman made it to Arsenal first team in pre-season, receiving wide media attention over his performance for the Gunners.

The teenager was also active during Arsenal’s 5-0 win against Leeds United coming in from the bench.

In a statement via BBC Radio Live 5, Walcott applauded the youngster, claiming that the youngster has the same trait as Messi.

“What’s really fascinating is that Mikel Arteta will allow him to do that because that’s his strength. He carries the ball, he’s quicker with the ball. He’s like Messi,” he said.

Walcott added that Dowman has the ability “where you just can’t teach it, because he plays with that freedom.”

Meanwhile, Dowman could get a chance to play for the Gunners when they go head to head against Liverpool in the Premier League.
