Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has finally reacted to Granit Xhaka’s departure from the club this summer transfer window.

Nketiah in a statement admitted that Xhaka will be missed at Emirate Stadium as he described the midfielder as an important figure on and off the pitch for the Gunners.

This comes after Xhaka completed a transfer from Arsenal to German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this summer after seven seasons at Emirate Stadium.

During his time in the EPL, Xhaka made 297 appearances for the Gunners.

In a post-match statement after Arsenal’s pre-season friendly 1-1 draw with Nurnberg on Thursday, Nketiah while hailing Xhaka said: “What a guy, a big miss for the club. He had a fantastic season last year.

“You see a lot of what he does on the pitch but off the pitch he is so important for all of us. He gives us a lot of confidence. He is a really good and honest guy. We wish him nothing but the best in Germany.”
