Newcastle Issue Firm Response to Arsenal and Manchester United Over Key Transfer Targets

Newcastle United have made their transfer position clear, insisting they have no intention of selling Bruno Guimaraes or Lewis Hall despite strong interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Magpies have already sanctioned the departures of two major first-team players this summer, with Anthony Gordon joining Barcelona and Sandro Tonali completing a move to Tottenham. Those sales have reportedly generated close to £170 million, easing financial pressure and reducing the need for further high-profile exits.

As a result, Newcastle are determined to retain the core of Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Arsenal continue to monitor Guimaraes as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield, while Manchester United have identified Hall as a potential addition to solve their issues at left-back. However, Newcastle reportedly regard both players as integral to their long-term plans.

Hall, in particular, is viewed as a key part of the club’s future, with Newcastle instead focusing on signing another full-back to increase competition rather than allowing the England international to leave.

Although the club acknowledge that every player has a price, it is understood that only an extraordinary offer would prompt them to reconsider their stance on either Guimaraes or Hall.

While Newcastle remain open to offers for some members of the first-team squad, they are determined to avoid another major loss after already parting ways with Gordon and Tonali.
