Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoumé, with both Premier League rivals viewing him as a promising long-term addition to their squads.

The 22-year-old, often compared to N’Golo Kanté for his tenacious style and tactical intelligence, has caught the attention of top European clubs.

Arsenal have identified Agoumé as a realistic target to replace Thomas Partey, whose contract extension talks have stalled. The Ghanaian midfielder is expected to depart this summer after requesting a wage increase beyond his current £200,000-a-week deal.

While Arsenal have also shown interest in high-profile names such as PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery, Barcelona’s Marc Casadó, and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, those moves are considered unlikely. Agoumé, however, is seen as a more attainable and strategically sound option.

Reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes describe the Sevilla midfielder as an “interesting profile” due to his physical presence, tactical discipline, and potential for development.

Although Arsenal were initially viewed as favourites to secure Agoumé’s signature, the report suggests that Manchester United have now entered the race and are actively trying to convince the French midfielder to choose Old Trafford.

United are reportedly offering a clear development path and the opportunity to play a central role in Erik ten Hag’s evolving squad.

Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, seeing Agoumé as a versatile option to reinforce their midfield depth.

With no deal finalized, competition for the talented midfielder is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
