Manchester City will likely be without their defender, Manuel Akanji on their first game after the international break.

This comes as the recent reports disclosed that Akanji is a doubt for the Citizens’ Premier League match against Arsenal this weekend.

The defender was reported to have picked up an injury while on international duty with Switzerland.

The 28-year-old will be unavailable when during his country’s friendly against Ireland due to the knock, which leaves him at risk of missing Sunday’s showdown with Arsenal at the Etihad.

So far, Akanji has started in the last 16 matches for Switzerland and has been an crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s side this season.

He has featured in 19 of Man City’s 28 league matches since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

Akanji’s  injury is coming just days after Kyle Walker was forced off playing for England in Saturday night’s friendly 1-0 defeat against Brazil due to a hamstring injury.
