Chance to qualify for UCL: Arsenal get injury boost Vs Newcastle United

Manager Mikel Arteta side have been handed three injury boosts ahead of the English Premier League game against Newcastle United this weekend.

The match against the Magpies is an important one for the Gunners who are in need of one more point to ensure qualification for next season’s Champions League.

It would be recalled that the North London club were held to a 2-2 draw against Liverpool last weekend.

While Arsenal will play against Newcastle without Mikel Merino as he picked up a red card at Anfield for two bookings.

Merino will serve a one-game suspension, making him not available to face the Magpies when they host them at the Emirates.

Arsenal could get a chance to secure three points against Newcastle if midfielder Declan Rice, who was spotted in training on Wednesday morning along with the rest of the squad, will start.

Rice was missing in action for the Gunners trip to Liverpool, having sustained a muscle injury.

Leandro Trossard, who was substituted in against the Reds, was also part of the training session.

Kai Havertz, who has been out of action since January has also returned.

The former Blues star scored 16 goals in all competitions for Arsenal when he sustained hamstring injury during a warm weather training session in Dubai.
