Brighton-Linked Ghanaian Midfielder Emerges as Porto’s Choice to Replace Arsenal Target

FC Porto are already preparing for the possibility of life without highly-rated midfielder Victor Froholdt, with the Portuguese club identifying Nordsjaelland star Caleb Yirenkyi as a potential successor amid growing transfer interest in both players.
Froholdt has enjoyed a rapid rise since arriving from FC Copenhagen last summer, establishing himself as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with several top clubs across the continent keeping a close eye on his progress.
Arsenal are understood to be among the clubs monitoring the 20-year-old, while Chelsea, Liverpool, Brighton and Newcastle United have also been credited with strong interest. Scouts from a number of elite European sides have reportedly followed Froholdt extensively over the past year, increasing the likelihood that Porto could face significant offers before the transfer window closes.
With that in mind, Porto have begun exploring replacement options and have turned their attention to Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi. The talented midfielder has impressed at Nordsjaelland and is viewed by Porto as a player capable of stepping into Froholdt’s role should the Danish youngster depart.
Interestingly, several of the clubs tracking Froholdt have also been assessing Yirenkyi. Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle are all believed to be familiar with the Ghanaian’s progress, while Brighton have also shown interest in the promising midfielder.
Porto’s proactive approach highlights both Froholdt’s growing reputation and Yirenkyi’s rising stock in European football. As the summer transfer window progresses, the futures of both midfielders could become closely linked, with Porto determined to stay one step ahead in the market.
