Arsenal are planning to sign a new midfielder before the close of the January transfer window.

According to the reports, the Blues have stepped up their pursuit to sign Rosenberg midfielder Sverre Nypan this January.

A reports via Athletic revealed that while no agreement or decision has been made on Nypan’s transfer, the North London club are advancing in talks with Rosenberg as well as the player’s agents over a possible transfer.

Further reports added that Arsenal are hopeful that Nypan’s relationship with Martin Odegaard, who is countryman is a boost for Arsenal to sign the 18-year-old.

But Arsenal will face competition from Premier League rival Manchester City, who have also shown interest to sign Nypan.

So far, Nypan has made 50 appearances for Rosenborg and is currently rated among Europe’s most promising young players.

The youngster could be available for a £10million fee, with a January move more feasible.
