Arsenal Step Up Attacking Reinforcements Search Ahead of Key Summer Window

Arsenal are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer as sporting director Andrea Berta continues plans to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of another title challenge.

Despite falling short in their pursuit of major honours last season, the club’s ambition remains clear. Co-chairman Josh Kroenke previously indicated that Arsenal would look to improve the squad regardless of their success in the Champions League, and early transfer activity suggests that commitment is already being put into action.

One area under close review is the left-wing position. With uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal could enter the market for reinforcements. Among the players linked with a move to north London is Real Sociedad winger Ander Barrenetxea.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a solid campaign in La Liga, registering four goals and five assists in 30 appearances. His performances earned him a senior Spain debut in March, and he was hopeful of securing a place in the national team’s World Cup squad. However, an injury suffered towards the end of the season ended those ambitions and temporarily halted his momentum.

Reports suggest Arsenal have shown interest in the Spanish winger, although Real Sociedad are said to be standing firm on their valuation of around £65 million. The Gunners are understood to be assessing several options before making a final decision.

Barrenetxea is not the only name under consideration. Arsenal have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and Greek international Christos Tzolis as Berta evaluates potential additions to strengthen the club’s attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
