Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

Fresh from ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title, the Gunners are determined to build on last season’s success and remain competitive both domestically and in Europe. The summer transfer window is expected to play a crucial role, with Arteta keen to add quality in several areas of the pitch.

While Arsenal continue to monitor midfield and attacking targets, including highly rated youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi and Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, defensive reinforcements are also under serious consideration.

According to reports, Konsa has emerged as one of Arsenal’s preferred options thanks to his versatility and consistency. The England international is capable of operating at both centre-back and right-back, making him an attractive addition to Arteta’s squad. His calmness in possession and defensive reliability have earned widespread praise, with Bukayo Saka previously describing him as “one of the best” defenders he has faced.

Konsa also enjoyed an outstanding Premier League campaign last season, with statistics highlighting his defensive quality after being dribbled past only four times throughout the league campaign. Those performances have further enhanced his reputation as one of the division’s most dependable defenders.

However, Arsenal are likely to face a significant challenge if they decide to pursue the 27-year-old. Aston Villa reportedly value Konsa at around £60 million and remain reluctant to sell one of their most influential players. Although no formal offer has been made, Arsenal’s interest underlines their ambition to reinforce an already title-winning squad with proven Premier League experience.
