Arsenal Close In on Two More Summer Signings After Major Breakthrough

Arsenal are on the verge of completing another summer signing after transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the club has reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer.
The former Leeds United shot-stopper became a free agent after leaving Elland Road at the end of last season, having failed to make a senior appearance during the 2025/26 campaign. Arsenal have been searching for additional competition in the goalkeeping department, particularly with uncertainty surrounding the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent much of last season as the club’s backup goalkeeper.
According to Romano, Meslier has agreed terms with the Gunners, with the move now expected to be finalised. The signing would provide Mikel Arteta with greater depth between the posts while allowing the club flexibility should Kepa depart before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also making significant progress in their pursuit of Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers. Reports suggest negotiations are advancing well, with an agreement between the clubs believed to be getting closer as the Gunners continue to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Rogers enjoyed an impressive campaign last season and has emerged as one of Arsenal’s priority attacking targets due to his versatility, pace and creativity in the final third.
Following the arrival of defender Piero Hincapié earlier this summer, Arsenal appear determined to maintain their momentum in the transfer market. With Meslier’s arrival nearing completion and talks over Rogers progressing positively, the Gunners could soon add two more important pieces to Arteta’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
