Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of securing the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, with the striker said to have agreed to a five-year contract with the North London club.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Gunners are now “touching the final line” in negotiations with Sporting CP, placing a long-awaited resolution to their striker search within reach.

The need for a reliable centre-forward has been a persistent issue for Arsenal, particularly highlighted during last season when both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were sidelined with injuries. In their absence, midfielder Mikel Merino was occasionally deployed as a makeshift striker—an experiment that brought mixed results but underscored the urgency for reinforcements in the forward line.

Gyokeres has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific and sought-after attackers, following a sensational season in Portugal where he scored an astonishing 54 goals in 52 appearances for Sporting. His form has not only drawn interest across Europe but has also made him a top target for Mikel Arteta as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title and making a deeper run in Europe.

Sporting, however, are determined to secure maximum value for their star man, which has prolonged negotiations. Gyokeres himself is reportedly keen to make the move to the Emirates, adding pressure on Sporting to reach an agreement.

With personal terms reportedly agreed and final negotiations underway, Arsenal fans could soon see the Swedish striker arrive at the Emirates—potentially solving the club’s long-standing striker dilemma ahead of the 2025/26 season.
