21-year-old defender lands transfer blow on Liverpool

Liverpool have suffered a transfer blow ahead of the January transfer window set to start in the next few weeks.

Recall that the Reds were recently linked with moves to sign Perr Schuurs as back up for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez who are absent from the team owing to long term injuries.

Well, Schuurs in a latest statement has spoken out on the transfer speculation to Liverpool as he declared he is not ready to leave Ajax yet.

The Dutch defender was in action at Anfield on Tuesday night as Ajax were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool in their Champions League group game but despite the loss, he was spectacular during the game.

Although the Reds are yet to confirm they are interested in signing Schuurs, he has however, addressed the speculation and has played down leaving Holland just yet, saying he wants to gain more experience with Ajax first.

“I hear and read it [Liverpool rumours] too,” Schuurs told SBS6.

“It’s my first season as a regular at Ajax. I want to play here for a few more seasons and win prizes. I’m not really working on that yet.”
