Chelsea still want to sign Premier league defensive midfielder

West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice is supposedly still a top transfer target for Chelsea.

The Premier league outfits were emphatically connected with the England international over the summer, however West Ham are accepted to have clarified that they would not consider offers of under £70m for the 21-year-old.

The Englishman has been in solid form for the Hammers in the early stages of the 2020-21 season and has captained David Moyes’ side in five of their six Premier League games this term.

As per report, Chelsea are still want to sign their former academy star, with Frank Lampard seeing him as a need transfer target.

The report, however, claims that the Hammers are at present drawing up another contract for Declan Rice, which would see him increase his wages to £120,000 per week, and are sure of agreeing a deal in the coming weeks.

Declan Rice is currently a key player for the English international team under Gareth Southgate, was released from the Chelsea academy at 14 years old, having failed to measure up at Stamford Bridge.
