Lionel Messi has purportedly agreed a huge £623m deal with City Football Group as the Argentine plans to leave Barcelona.

The superstar disclosed to Barcelona that he wants to leave the Catalan giants during this current summer’s transfer window, and his agent and father, Jorge Messi has traveled to Spain for talks.

Manchester City have developed as the top favourites for the Argentina international in spite of recommendations that Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan were also interested to sign the 33-year-old.

As indicated by report, Lionel Messi has agreed a five-year deal with City Football Group which will see him play to City before joining MLS outfit New York City FC.

The report guarantees that the forward is probably going to spend three seasons with the Citizens before moving to North America, despite the fact that there is ‘a level of adaptability’ in the deal.

Lionel Messi was absent during Barcelona’s pre-season training session on Monday, while he also didn’t turn up for a Covid screening on Sunday as he searches for an exit.

The four-time Champions League winner has a deal at Camp Nou until next June, but he is trying to leave on a free transfer regardless of a clause permitting him to leave for nothing this summer lapsing in June.
