Arsenal keeping close watch on Mexico’s rising star as teenager continues remarkable rise

Arsenal are among a number of European clubs monitoring highly-rated Mexican midfielder Gilberto Mora following his impressive performances on the international stage.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder enhanced his growing reputation during this summer’s World Cup, where he featured prominently for Mexico as they progressed to the round of 16 before being eliminated by England. His mature displays against experienced opposition have strengthened interest from several clubs across Europe.

Mora currently plays for Liga MX side Club Tijuana, where he has already made history. He became the youngest player ever to represent the club in Mexico’s top flight after making his senior debut at just 15 years and 308 days old. Since then, he has continued to develop rapidly, with Tijuana aware that his long-term future is likely to lie in Europe if his progress continues.

The teenager also became the youngest player to represent Mexico at a World Cup, accumulating more than 200 minutes during the tournament and demonstrating composure well beyond his years.

Interest in Mora existed before the competition began, but his performances on the global stage have further increased his list of admirers. Arsenal remain one of the clubs closely following his development as they continue to identify young talents capable of strengthening their squad for the future.

Any move to England would have to wait, however, as FIFA regulations mean Mora cannot complete a transfer until he turns 18 in October, making an immediate switch this summer unlikely.
