Jose Mourinho Urges Real Madrid to Sign Chelsea Midfielder After Bernardo Silva Arrival
Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as a key transfer target for Real Madrid as the Spanish giants continue their summer rebuild.
According to reports from Spain, the incoming Real Madrid manager has urged the club to make the Argentine international a priority signing following the arrival of Bernardo Silva.
Although Mourinho is not set to officially begin his role until mid-July, Real Madrid have already been active in the transfer market. The club recently secured the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal worth £51.8 million, while former Manchester City star Bernardo Silva joined on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract.
Real Madrid are also expected to strengthen their defence, with Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu after contract negotiations with the Premier League side reportedly stalled.
However, Mourinho’s focus now appears to be on reinforcing the midfield. Reports from Spain suggest the Portuguese coach views Fernandez as the ideal addition to provide quality, energy, and leadership in the centre of the park. The 25-year-old has established himself as one of Chelsea’s most influential players since his £107 million move from Benfica in 2023.
Chelsea are not actively seeking to sell Fernandez and continue to regard him as a vital part of their long-term project. Nevertheless, Real Madrid’s growing interest could test the Blues’ resolve, particularly if Mourinho continues to push for a move as he prepares to begin a new era in the Spanish capital.
