Antoine Semenyo Set for Premier League Move, City Favoured Over Rivals

Premier League star Antoine Semenyo reportedly had the option to join one of Manchester City’s rivals, but only under a specific condition, according to respected journalist David Ornstein.

The Bournemouth winger has been one of the standout performers this season, impressing with eight goals and three assists in just 16 league appearances. His consistent performances have caught the eye of several of England’s top clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, and eventual Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Semenyo’s contract includes a £65 million release clause, which is set to become active briefly in January. This clause opens the door for a potential mid-season transfer, giving interested clubs an opportunity to act before the summer window. Initially, Liverpool were thought to be the most likely destination, but more recent reports have highlighted Manchester City and Manchester United as the frontrunners.

While Manchester United and Liverpool were previously considered top options, it appears Semenyo ultimately favoured a move to City. Ornstein’s report suggests that the winger’s decision hinged on certain conditions being met, reflecting both his ambition and desire for the right environment to continue his development. His move to City, should it materialize, would be a significant addition for Pep Guardiola’s squad, providing creativity, pace, and goal-scoring threat to a side competing on multiple fronts.

Bournemouth’s January transfer window could therefore see one of their brightest talents depart, while Semenyo takes the next step in his career at one of Europe’s elite clubs, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the Premier League title race.
