Arsenal have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, with reports suggesting the Brazilian is edging closer to leaving the Bernabéu.

The Gunners, aiming to challenge once again for the Premier League title, are expected to be highly active in the transfer market this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side is reportedly progressing with a £76 million move for the 23-year-old, who could become a marquee addition at the Emirates. With Real Madrid making space in their attacking lineup following Kylian Mbappé’s arrival, Rodrygo may find himself surplus to requirements in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

Arsenal’s transfer strategy this summer appears focused on bolstering key areas. Alongside their interest in Rodrygo, they are said to be closing in on a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi. A new centre forward also remains high on the club’s wishlist as they look to build a squad capable of ending their two-decade wait for the league title.

Arteta is believed to view Rodrygo as a player who could elevate the team’s attacking dynamics, especially in moments where creativity is lacking. The Gunners’ midfield struggled at times last season without captain Martin Ødegaard, and while Declan Rice provides energy and forward drive, he lacks the natural creativity of a playmaker.

Rodrygo’s potential arrival could offer Arsenal greater attacking depth and versatility, helping them maintain fluidity and control in critical matches.
