Saka addresses Palmer’s England Player of the Year award
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has reacted to Chelsea star Cole Palmer beating him to the England Player of the Year award.
Saka in a statement congratulated his international teammate Palmer for his victory.
Recall that the Chelsea winger bagged the award ahead of Saka and Jude Bellingham.
Saka in his statement said credit to Palmer for winning player of the year.
The Arsenal man described it as a big achievement adding that Palmer deserved it.
Recalling Palmer’s reaction when he was announced as the winner, Saka said, “I was next to him at the time; his mouth was just open; he couldn’t believe it.”
Despite not starting any match during the Euro 2024, the Blues winger scored his first England goal in their 2-1 defeat to Spain in the final.
Palmer also created the assist for Ollie Watkins’ winner in the semi-final against the Netherlands.
The award being handed to Palmer has stirred debate among some fans, with many stating that Saka deserved to the win the award ahead of the Blues winger.
Meanwhile, England will play Greece on Thursday in the UEFA Nations League after which they will player Finland in Helsinki on Sunday.
