How Potter’s as next England coach would be a win for Chelsea

Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has been named as one of the favourites to replace Gareth Southgate as England next manager.

Should this happen, Chelsea will reportedly earn a seven-figure.

Recall that the 49-year-old has been out of job since his sack at Chelsea in April 2023 after less than seven months in charge.

Potter was the first manager the Blues signed under American billionaire Todd Boehly era at Stamford Bridge.

During his time with the Blues, Potter recorded 12 wins, eight draws and 11 defeats in 31 games across all games.

The performance was not deemed satisfactory by the Boehly and fellow co-owners Clearlake Capital.

Since his exit from Chelsea, Potter has been linked with a several of managerial roles across Europe, with the former Brighton boss said to have rejected offers from clubs including Ajax and Lyon.

However, recent reports have claimed that Potter has been named as one of several names on a list of targets for the Football Association as they search for a new England manager to replace Southgate, who resigned two days after the Three Lions lost to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
