8 clubs Pochettino rejected to become Chelsea’s new manager revealed
Former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly rejected eight clubs before he agreed to become Chelsea’s next permanent manager from next season.
This is according to Journalist, Guillem Balague, who said Pochettino was approached by eight European clubs and they are Aston Villa, Leeds, Forest, Sevilla, Benfica, Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal and Nice after he was sacked by PSG last year.
“He has not been short of offers since leaving Paris but none have ticked as many boxes as Chelsea has, certainly in this second round of negotiations with the club. He was determined to make sure that he made the right choice as to his next employer – and initially turned down Boehly’s Chelsea until he was offered more control,” Balague said in a report for BBC.
Pochettino will have a lot of work to do at Stamford Bridge when he takes over from interim manager Frank Lampard at the end of this season.
This comes as the Blues struggled to impress this season as they dropped out of the top six clubs on the EPL table.
