Chelsea willing to let this World Cup star leave, Liverpool on the lookout
Chelsea are reportedly willing to let Croatia star Mateo Kovacic leave the club this summer.
According to a report via the Evening Standard, the Blues are willing to let Kovacic leave and are not ready to offer him a new contract extension.
This comes as the Croatia midfielder will see his current deal at Stamford Bridge expire at the end of next season when he would be able to leave as a free agent.
Following their failure to get a spot in the Champions League for next season, the Blues are considering trimming their squad and balancing the books after their spending spree under Todd Boehly.
Recall that Chelsea in the last two transfer windows splashed more than £500 million to sign a total of 18 players.
The report from 90min revealed Liverpool are considering talks with Kovacic’s representatives.
Kovacic would get game time at Anfield as the Reds need a midfield revamp, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita on contracts that expire this summer.
