Not good enough: Lampard slams Chelsea players

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has slammed the Blues players after their defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

Lampard, who recently returned to Stamford Bridge watched helplessly as his squad suffered a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge supporters, was quick to admit that they ‘were not good enough’.

It was his third game in charge at Chelsea and his first game at home since his return as a short-term replacement for Graham Potter, who was sacked a couple of weeks ago.

Cornor Gallagher opened the scoreline  13 minutes into the game but Brighton equalised through Danny Welbeck’s header shortly before half-time and Julio Enciso ensured the visitors won all three points, with a brilliant long-range strike in the second half.

“This is my first home game on my return so there is no way I would do that. But the result is what it is,” Lampard told Match of the Day.

“But for me the level today wasn’t good enough. I don’t like what I saw today.

“There should be a feeling when you play for Chelsea of pride involved. It’s Chelsea football club, it’s bigger than all of us.”
