Former Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney, has pointed out England’s major weak point ahead of their 2022 FIFA World Cup opening match against Iran on Monday.

The 2022 World Cup will begin on Sunday, November 20 with the host nation Qatar facing Ecuador.

England, who are in Group B will play against Iran, Wales and the USA to make it to the next round in the tournament.

According to Rooney, who said England have one of the best squads at the World Cup, their centre-backs could cost them their chances as he stressed that other countries have stronger centre-backs.

“England have one of, if not the strongest squads. Full backs, midfielders, attacking players — there is strength right across the board,” Rooney told The Times.

“The only area that is not as strong as some of the other nations is the centre backs.

“Previously, we’ve had the likes of Rio Ferdinand and John Terry, who were world-class.

“When you look at Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka, we have got to choose from, it’s as good as we have had.”
