There are growing speculations that this weekend’s Premier League fixtures may be cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Recall that the British monarch’s death was announced by the Royal Family on Thursday.

And the reports revealed her death could lead to the cancellation of a lot of activities throughout the United Kingdom including football.

A royal correspondent and Editor-in-Chief of Royal Central, Charlie Proctor, in a tweet via his verified @MonarchyUK handle, wrote: “All political, sporting and comedy events have been cancelled.

“The United Kingdom and the Commonwealth has entered an extended period of mourning.”

Henry Winter, the Chief Football Writer at the UK Times, in a post via his Twitter account also hinted that there will be no football matches in the UK.

“This weekend’s @premierleague and @EFL games will surely be postponed following the death of The Queen,” Winter tweeted.
