Chelsea star set to return from loan

The latest report has revealed that Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri who currently plays for Lyon on loan, is set to return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had made moves to recall Emerson in the January transfer window as they wanted to bring him in as a backup for Ben Chilwell, who has been out on injury.

However, the Blues saw their bid rejected, and they went on to recall Kenedy instead.

According to Sebastien Denis, Palmieri could also be set for a comeback as Lyon cannot afford his salary, as it is too high for their budget, while the Italian himself is not interested in staying.

Instead, the French club are set to look for a lower-cost replacement or focus on a different loan in order to replace the Chelsea star.

Despite this situation, the 27-year-old has featured regularly for Lyon, making 23 appearances in Ligue 1 while also playing five times in the Europa League.

It is, however, uncertain if he would be added to the Blues’ first team if he returns as he could be sent on another loan outside the club.
