Tuchel confirms the departure of this Chelsea player

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the pending departure of Andreas Christensen from Stamford Bridge.

As Christensen’s current deal expires in the summer, Tuchel confirmed he has informed the Blues he will not be agreeing on fresh terms.

The Danish defender has been linked with move to Spanish side Barcelona ahead of the 2022/2023 campaign.

Tuchel stressed that he is not happy about it as he had hoped the club would work on a deal to keep the Denmark international.

When asked about Christensen’s future on Wednesday, Tuchel said: “Well it’s in doubt, no?

“We hear the rumours and the situation with Andreas and we are not happy about it because I personally and the club’s representatives think that it’s best for him to stay and we rely heavily on him.

“He has not signed yet and you cannot communicate [laughs]. This is also a signal to us and communication from his side is that he did not sign until now so we have to consider the possibility that he leaves us.”
