The January transfer window is still on and the latest report has linked Arsenal with shocking moves for former Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

In a report via Goal, the North London club are said to be among the clubs that have had informal talks with Costa.

This comes as the 33-year-old striker is reportedly close to ending his contract with Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro.

While the reports revealed that Arsenal are yet to submit an official enquiry for Costa, their coach Mikel Arteta is hopeful of improving his options at the front during the ongoing transfer window.

It will be a plus for Arsenal to sign Costa as he come with a wealth of experience and would serve as a suitable replacement for the out-of-favour Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is currently on international duty at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations AFCON.

As of now, only Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are the key strikers at Emirate Stadium, and both will see their contracts expire at the end of the season

During his time at Chelsea, Costa had 58 goals in 120 matches in all competitions, which spanned for over three seasons.
