Why Man Utd sign Rangnick

Manchester United football director, John Murtough in a recent statement, has revealed why the club signed Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis as a replacement for the sacked of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Recall that Solskjaer was sacked early last month after a series of bad results that saw the Red Devils swatted 4-1 by relegation battling Watford.

Murtough explained that Rangnick’s appointment was to afford the Red Devils hierarchy the time to conduct a search for a long-term successor to Solskjaer.

Erik ten Hag of Ajax, Mauricio Pochettino of Paris Saint-Germain and Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers are top on the list of managers waiting to be called upon for the United job.

“By bringing in Ralf, we can now take time to run a thorough process for our next permanent manager,,” Murtough said, according to Metro.

“Recruiting a manager is one of the most important decisions a football club makes so we want to do it in a careful and considered fashion.

“We have an agreement with Ralf to stay on for a further two years in a consultancy role – allowing us to continue drawing on his expertise and advice to support our longer-term goals.”
