Germany international and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has reacted to the claims he didn’t request the signing of Spain international Saul Niguez at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel cleared the air as he said every decision to sign a new player at Stamford Bridge is taken by him and some Chelsea hierarchy.

Saul, who arrived Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid, has struggled to perform at Stamford Bridge, making just six appearances this season, of which only three have been starts under Tuchel, and there have been claims in Spain.

This raised speculations that Tuchel never requested the Blues to sign Saul, but the German manager insisted that was not the case and that every decision over a potential signing is taken in conjunction with Marina Granovskaia, Petr Cech, and the other members of the Blues’ recruitment team.

A club signing? No, we don’t do this,” the German said. “Until now, we haven’t done club signings and coach’s signings. We do signings because we decide together because we believe it’s a good pick and a good addition to the squad, and this was exactly the case.”
