Chelsea senior defender and Germany international Antonio Rudiger is more than just a player at Stamford Bridge.

This comes as the Blues defender, Trevoh Chalobah, made some grand statement about Rudiger.

Chalobah, in his statement, disclosed that Rudiger helped him to become a key player in Thomas Tuchel’s squad at Stamford Bridge.

He went on to say that Rudiger has been a tremendous mentor to him since he joined Chelsea.

According to him, the Germany international took him in and helped him in training sessions even when he went on loan.

Chalobah, 22, made this known ahead of Chelsea’s Uefa Champions League clash with Juventus at Stamford Bridge.

“Antonio Rudiger has been a very big mentor for me since I first came here,” Chalobah, who shares Sierra Leonean heritage with Rudiger, was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying.

“He took me in and helped me in training sessions. When I went out on loan, he told me what was needed.

“Now’s it’s good to share the same pitch with him.”

The 22-year-old defender will hope to get a nod to start alongside his mentor tonight.
