Chelsea are reportedly ready to hand one more year contract to their defender and Brazil international Thiago Silva.

The latest report was made public by popular Italian transfer expert and reported Fabrizio Romano, who said Chelsea FC would look to extend Thiago Silva’s contract at the club for another season.

There is no doubt that Silva has played an impressive role in the Blues defence line this season, and despite his age, the Brazilian defender has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC team.

So far this season, Silva has scored one goal in nine Premier League games for the southwest London side, who are currently seated at the top of the EPL table.

With no replacement for Silva yet, Chelsea could offer him a new contract as they have conceded only four goals this season.

Posting on his Twitter account over the weekend, Romano wrote: “Thiago Silva’s contract extension will be discussed soon with Chelsea board.

“Tuchel and club super happy with Thiago and he wants to stay in Europe for one more season.

“Thiago’s performing at top level for Chelsea, again and again. He’s amazing. And yes, he’s 37.”

Silva is likely to start for the Blues when they face Juventus on Tuesday in the UCL.
