Niguez Saul reacts to his debut for Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez has reflected on his debut performance for the Blues over the weekend.

Recall that Saul, who joined the Blues on loan from the Spanish side Atletico Madrid, was given a chance to start for Chelsea during the game vs Aston Villa on Saturday.

Although the Blues won the game by a 1-0 scoreline, Saul’s performance was below expectation.

He played in the first half, and the Blues coach, Thomas Tuchel, was left with no option but to take him off at halftime and bring on Jorginho in the second half.

The 26-year-old midfielder committed many mistakes, including giving the ball away too many times, failing to press and dallying in possession and being caught out.

In many of the cases, he was saved by Eduoard Mendy and Thiago Silva.

“Wasn’t the expected debut,” Saul wrote in a caption on social media, along with a photo of him with his new teammates.

“Really happy with my first game and victory with the team. Incredible to see Stamford Bridge full of Blues,” he added.

It is not sure if Tuchel will give him a start in the Blues UCL game on Tuesday.
