Thomas Tuchel confirms injury blow for star forward ahead of new season

Chelsea defeated Villarreal on penalties to win the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night but were forced to lose Hakim Ziyech to an injury.

Hakim Ziyech scored Chelsea’s only goal of the match in the first half but had to be replaced minutes before the half-time interval after it appeared that he dislocated his right shoulder with minimal contact.

Replaced by Christain Pulisic, Thomas Tuchel after the match revealed the injury situation of Ziyech as he noted that it’s a huge setback for the Morocco international.

Speaking with Chelseafc.com, Tuchel stated that if you take a player out during the first half, it is serious.

Tuchel noted that it was unfortunate because Ziyech has been a very decisive player in the last games.

Ziyech arrived in Chelsea from Ajax last season and his debut campaign for the Blues was not too impressive as he registered just six goals and four assists from 39 appearances across all competitions.
